2011 Nissan Tiida

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. premiered an all-new hatchback model at the 2011 Auto Shanghai. This new model will be the new generation Nissan Tiida in China.
The Nissan Tiida hatchback, introduced in China in 2005 from Dongfeng Nissan, is a pioneer in the compact hatchback market in China, selling 85,000 units in 2010. Sold globally in 165 countries, the Nissan Tiida is the best-selling model in the current Nissan product lineup.
The all-new Nissan Tiida is targeted toward young families who value quality life. With appeal points such as 'premium and agile styling', 'class leading comfort' and 'PURE DRIVE revolutionary powertrain', the new model will continue to be a leading model in the compact hatchback market in China. Nissan will also be the first Japanese automaker to introduce a turbo-charged engine in the Chinese market, with the introduction of the new Tiida's turbo series.

Based on a keyword 'Fluid & Brisk', the new Nissan Tiida delivers a new, premium feeling with a smooth, streamlined bodyside, well-balanced proportions and advanced-design exterior parts, such as grilles and lamps with refined details. To further enhance its spacious interior, which has been well received in the previous generation Tiida hatchback, the wheelbase length has been increased by 100mm to ensure best-in-class rear knee room. With increased length and breadth of the front window and optimally-shaped side mirrors for ease of use, visibility is significantly improved contributing to stress-free driving.
Interior design is developed using another keyword - 'Calm & Refined'. With a comfortable interior to embrace the driver and passengers, an elegant and precisely-crafted meter, a floating center cluster, and wide, super-soft armrests, the car provides premium space offering comfortable feeling in driving.
Driving comfort is also realized by soft, comfortable seats with low vibration which brings about less fatigue during driving.
Installed is a reliable, easy-to-handle, fuel-efficient Nissan HR16DE engine which has been employed in a number of Nissan vehicles. In addition, a range of PURE DRIVE low-emission technologies has also been added, such as latest dual injectors that provides far greater combustion efficiency by finely splashing fuel and Xtronic CVT with an auxiliary transmission. Select models of the all-new Nissan Tiida fully meet the stringent third phase fuel-efficiency requirements in China (draft data issued in Nov. 2009).
This new model, to be produced in the Dongfeng Nissan Huadu Plant in Guangzhou, will be released in late May 2011. Followed by its introduction in China, it will be launched in approximately 130 countries around the world by 2014.

Spy photos of the 2012 Nissan Tiida have appeared on the internet ahead of the vehicle’s unveiling at Auto Shanghai 2011 and at the 2011 New York International Auto Show later this month. The images from AUTOinCAR provide us with the first undisguised look at the new Tiida, which could potentially be sold in Australia as the new Nissan Pulsar from next year.

From the front, the lower grille and intakes share styling cues with the Volvo S60, while the headlights are similar to the current Nissan Maxima.

The profile is decidedly sportier than the outgoing Tiida, with a considerably lower window-to-door-panel ratio.

The rear also has a much more cohesive design, with taillights similar to the Nissan Dualis.Nissan Australia’s Jeff Fisher said there were still many decisions to be made about the local arm’s future small car line-up, and could not confirm whether the vehicle in the image would necessarily come to Australia as a straight replacement for the current Tiida.

The return of the Pulsar nameplate to Australia has been much talked about in recent times, and Mr Fisher admitted it was a name that had a considerable reputation and a certain cachet in Australia.

The Pulsar was sold in Australia between 1978 and 2007 and even manufactured in Clayton South, Victoria, during the 1980s and 1990s. Nissan Australia sold 370,000 Pulsars in the model’s 25 years on sale.Mr Fisher said a final decision on the local naming of the new small sedan and hatch was still to be made.

“Whether we continue to call it Tiida, there is still some debate about that.”

In 2007, the Tiida achieved Pulsar-like sales of 13,756, but by 2010 that figure had dropped to 5491. In the first quarter of 2011, Nissan has delivered 1092 Tiidas, almost 1000 less than in the same period last year.Another vehicle in the mix for Australia is the Nissan Sunny, which is effectively a sedan version of the Nissan Micra.

The Nissan Tiida is a compact car, manufactured by Japanese automaker Nissan, replacing the Pulsar and the Sunny, and marketed also as the Nissan Versa, prominently in the United States.

If it does come to Australia, the Sunny nameplate is not likely to accompany it, with Nissan Australia likely to distance the new model from the old car from the 1970s and 1980s.Mr Fisher said that whatever decisions were made about Nissan Australia’s small car future, pricing would be the key.

CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coup X; the X commemorating the 10th anniversary (being the Roman numeral for ten) of the completion and test drive of the first CC vehicle in 1996.
The CCX was first unveiled on February 28, 2006 at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show although its existence was announced earlier. A derivative known as the CCXR is available, the main difference being that CCXR's engine is tuned to run on biofuel. The different fuel and tune allows the CCXR to produce 25% more power than the CCX.
