Renault Clio Car Review

Renault Clio
There is nothing revolutionary about the look of the 2009 Renault Clio. The twin air intakes that framed the grille on the old car – Renault’s people somewhat amusingly used to refer to this as the ‘moustache look’ – has gone. In its place is a new nose that brings the Clio in line with the latest Renault ‘look’ that debuted on the Megane, Scenic and Laguna Coupe. Like all facelifts it jars a bit at first, though it’s still recognisably a Clio under its new trimmed nose.

The go-faster Renaultsport model also gets a makeover. The introduction of a black bumper with an ‘F1 Blade’ below it – its shape aping the front wing on Alonso’s weekend company car – gives the 197bhp hot-hatch the visual aggression to back up its mighty performance. A GT model (the blue car, below) now also joins the line up and gets its own chunky black lower grille and integrated foglamps. It plays understudy to the Renaultsport, for those with more restrictive budgets but wanting a less mumsy Clio.
