Justin Timberlake sings about bringing sexy back, but I think it’s time to bring Suzuki back – namely I’m singing the praises of the Swift. The Swift of course was a big in the 1980s and just like the Dunlop Volley, it unjustifiably went out of fashion. But given the trend for small cars right now, I reckon it’s time to try the Swift back on for size. The Suzuki Swift is a sporty/quirky-looking, buff little number with killer curves even Jennifer Lopez would applaud.
Speaking of J-Lo, the booty is rounded and big enough to throw in a small surfboard with the rear seat folded down and the cabin feels particularly spacious and wide in comparison to others in its class.
The drive is firm, tight and light with just the right amount of torque for both city and highway driving. On the downside, interior trim is plastic-y and cheap looking, and the dash is all very basic but with so much else going for the Swift, this really shouldn’t be the focus. Vision is excellent in the Swift thanks to the huge wrap around window design and high seating, and the Swift fulfils all your safety requirements with front, side and curtain airbags and ABS with EBD and brake assist.
Additionally, the Swift comes with all the must-have creature comforts you would expect such as air-conditioning, power windows, remote central locking, a leather steering wheel, a cool 6-CD audio, an immobilser, fuel consumption per 100km dash display gauge, cruise control and alloy wheels.
